Attracting God’s Glory

When we speak of Gods’ glory we are usually talking about a display of His power. This comes through a demonstration of the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. It can be a supernatural experience of the peace of God or it can be through a supernatural healing or an accurate prophetic word. Whatever the event, it is an experience of his supernatural nature and power. The question becomes what can we do to attract more of His power? So, let’s look at His nature and His power.

Rom. 1:20 Ever since the creation of the world his [God’s] eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So, they are without excuse.

What this is saying is that God has used the natural world to communicate the essence of his nature. Built into nature is the character of God. This is interesting because God is unity. He is three in one in perfect unity. He is also all powerful. This means that we should be able to find a relationship between unity and power in creation. The fact is we do – it is called “synergy”. It is a physical phenomenal that exists is creation right from the molecular level to the level of animals and people – “the whole is greater than the sum of the parts”.

I read about a county fair in which they had a plow horse competition. The two finalists pulled 700 and 800 lbs. Someone got the idea of teaming them together so see if they could pull 1500 lbs. together. They pulled over 2000 lbs. God has built into nature the principle that more power is released when we function in unity than when we are divided. We see this in human affairs in the Bible.

Gen.11:1-8 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words…Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.” The LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which mortals had built. And the LORD said, “Look, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.  Come, let us go down, and confuse their language there, so that they will not understand one another’s speech.”  So, the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city”.

This is an amazing thing! God sees mankind’s unity in an effort to elevate themselves to his level and “make a name for themselves” on par with God and he says, “If I don’t remove their unity there is nothing they can’t do”. God, in effect, curses humanity with disunity and humans have been in disunity since. WITH ONE EXCEPTION!

Psalm. 133:1-3 “How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down upon the beard, on the beard of Aaron, running down over the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD ordained [commanded] his blessing…”

God has commanded a blessing to his church when it lives together in unity. He has given us His Spirit of unity so that we can live in unity.
